Oman is a beautiful country in the Arabic Peninsula with a long coast on the Indian Ocean. Oman shares land borders with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen while sharing maritime borders with Iran and Pakistan. Oman is an expat-friendly country and relatively safe place to live and study. Entry to Oman can be by land, air or sea. There are three international airports, namely the Muscat Airport, the Salalah Airport, and Sohar Airport. Oman has land ports/border check points with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UAE and Yemen. The sea / industrial ports are the Sultan Qaboos Port, Salalah Port, Sohar Port, Mina Al Fahal, AD Duqum Port, and Khasab Port. The Sultanate of Oman has eleven Governorates namely: Muscat, Dhofar, Musandam, Buraimi, the North Batinah, the South Batinah, the Dhahirah, Wusta, Dakhiliyah, the South Sharqiyah, and the North Sharqiyah.
Al Buraimi Governorate (the place where UOB locates) is located in northwestern Oman. It consists of three cities (Wilayats) of Al Buraimi, Mahdah, and Al Sininah., Al Buraimi city is approximately 300 kilometers (KM) from Muscat, the capital of Oman, and 100 KM from Sohar city.
Al Buraimi Governorate is located on the border of the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Al Ain of UAE is an adjacent city to Al Buraimi and the distance between Al Buraimi and Dubai is 120 KM. (Visa required for entering UAE through the border check post).
The cost of living is not high in Al Buraimi Governorate. For example, you can find an apartment in Al Buraimi for 80-150 OMR while it will cost you more than this amount in other cities such as Muscat or Sohar. Water, and electricity bills should be paid every month by the tenant.
Within Al Buraimi, you can use taxis (public transportation) or your own car for transportation. Your driving license must be approved by the Royal Oman Police (ROP). Al-Buraimi Sports Complex is the main sports complex in Al Buraimi. It consists of a stadium and other sports equipment. Sports facilities at the complex include:
The stadium which can accommodate (17,000) spectators
The GYM, with stands of 1,050 spectators
An Olympic swimming pool with stands of (724) spectators
A playground for football training
Athletics Track (Racetrack)
Playground for hockey

You can see your favourite films in the VOX Cinemas Buraimi which located in Al Buraimi Lulu Hypermarket.
Al Buraimi Souq is located near to Al Hillah and Al Khandaq Castles (Historical landmarks in Al Buraimi) in the Center of the City. It consists of the central market, the vegetable and fruit market, the seasonal product’s market, and the handicrafts market. So, you can find in Al Buraimi Souq local and imported fruits, vegetables, fish, meats, clothing, and handicrafts. Usually, Items in the Souq are cheaper than in supermarkets.
There are many local and international banks in Al Buraimi. Foreigners can open an account by providing the Bank with a copy of his/her resident card.

The University of Buraimi (UoB) was established under the Royal Decree that regulates the establishment of private Higher Education Institutions. It started with the first batch of students in 2010 and currently houses 4 colleges (College of Business, College of Engineering, College of Health Sciences & College of Law) and 1 center – the Center for Foundation Studies.
Since its inception, UoB has worked hard to build a higher education teaching-learning environment to ensure necessary knowledge, skills, and attributes are obtained by its students to be successful in their life. Currently, the university has students of different nationalities attending 17 undergraduate programs and 5 postgraduate programs. The UoB offers a diverse mix of expertise and experience from International and Omani faculty together with, best-of-class infrastructure, facilities, resources, and, services so that students experience a multicultural environment that fosters educational, social, and cultural upbringing.
The university also has a clear direction in research with effective collaborations with national and international institutions. The UoB has an active Memorandum of Understandings (MoU’s) with a number of local, regional and international academic and professional institutions to support students and faculty with their academic and research progress.
Applicants who obtained their secondary school certificates outside Oman are required to attest their certificates for all secondary school levels/grades (e.g. grade 10, 11 and 12) and provide an Equivalency Certificate from the following authorities:
The Ministry of Education or the educational authority in the country where studies were completed.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the country where studies were completed.
The Embassy of Oman in the country where studies were done.
In case the attestations couldn’t be done, as mentioned in 2 and 3, certificates must be attested/ratified by the embassy of the respective country in Oman where studies were done as well as by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Oman.
After obtaining the above attestations/ratifications, the student must provide the Equivalency Certificate Issued by the Ministry of Education in Oman.
The Immigration Department in the Royal Oman Police (RoP) provides academic institutions with a study visa complying to the requirements given below:
The students should be outside the country.
Provide the passport copy (valid for more than 6 months).

Medical report from any public or private center.
