University of Buraimi Participates in the International Conference on Jurisprudential and Judicial Ijtihad in Light of Digital Transformations in the Kingdom of Morocco

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its academic and research presence on the international stage, the University of Buraimi participated in the International Conference titled “Jurisprudential and Judicial Ijtihad in Light of Digital Transformations: The Debate of Religion, Law, and Artificial Intelligence,” held in Agadir, Kingdom of Morocco.

The conference was jointly organized by the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences – Ait Melloul (Ibn Zohr University), the School of Law, Political, and Human Sciences (International University of Agadir), and the Manarat Al-Fikr International Foundation.

The University of Buraimi was represented at this prominent academic event by:

  • Professor Dr. Osama Mohamed Othman Khalil, who presented a research paper titled: “Methods of Interpretation and Judicial Ijtihad for Legal Concepts: Current and Future Prospects – The Gulf States as a Model.”

  • Dr. Heba Abubakr Awad, Assistant Professor in the Department of Private Law, who delivered a paper titled: “The Role of Judiciary in Achieving Swift Justice: Toward the Digital Transformation of the Judicial System.”

The two-day conference saw the participation of over 70 researchers, academics, and international experts from more than six countries, featuring the presentation of over 40 research papers. These addressed cutting-edge issues related to artificial intelligence, legal and jurisprudential reasoning, and the impact of digital transformations on modern legislation.

The conference served as a pioneering academic platform for deepening dialogue and discussions on the implications of AI on judicial and jurisprudential systems. It concluded with a set of significant outcomes and recommendations, including:

  • Promoting jurisprudential and legal research on artificial intelligence to keep pace with rapid digital transformations.

  • Enhancing collaboration among academic, judicial, and technological institutions to leverage digital advancements in the service of justice and the law.

  • Establishing specialized research centers to study the digital impact on legislation, jurisprudence, and legal systems.

  • Organizing future conferences to examine AI-related errors and develop legal frameworks to address them.

  • Updating legislation to ensure the protection of intellectual property rights in the era of artificial intelligence.

The University of Buraimi’s participation in this conference underscores its commitment to advancing scientific research and staying at the forefront of contemporary developments in legal and jurisprudential fields, further solidifying its pioneering role in supporting the academic and research community locally and regionally.
