A Station to Monitor Strong Seismic Motion at University of Buraimi

Sultan Qaboos University, represented by the Earthquake Monitoring Center, has started establishing a national network to measure the ground acceleration of earthquakes. It is hoped that the results of this network will serve many government agencies and a large segment of society, such as researchers in geosciences and earthquakes, civil and structural engineers, and many others. It will also provide the concerned authorities with maps and data on the intensity of vibration and the expected damage of each earthquake to ensure immediate response. The University of Buraimi has been selected to establish a seismic monitoring station. The necessary equipment has been installed on the university campus and the station is now fully ready to serve all segments of society.
