University of Buraimi Celebrates World Mental Health Day
University of Buraimi, represented by the Student Affairs Department (EDRAK for Student Counseling), celebrated World Mental Health Day over two days from 10 to 11 October. The celebration included various programs and initiatives at the university and community levels. On the first day, psychological and social consultations were offered on campus to students, university staff, and the general public. These consultations were provided by experts in psychology and social work from different institutions. Furthermore, a virtual lecture was conducted by the psychological specialist, Abeer Al-Mujaini, from Eunoia Mental Health Clinic, which was attended by students and community members. The Theater Committee of Asalah Club presented a play titled ‘Madness, Demonic Possession' that addressed the issue of the stigma associated with mental illness.
On the second day, October 11, the World Mental Health Day exhibition was inaugurated in Mazoon Hall, under the patronage of H.E. Ahmed bin Faris Al-Azani, member of the Shura Council representative of the Governorate of Buraimi. The exhibition featured participation from experts from various government and private institutions inside and outside the governorate. These included the Directorate of Education, the Social Development Department, Buraimi Hospital, Buraimi VocationalCollege, the Youth Psychology Foundation, and Meethaq Rehabilitation Center.
The exhibition showcased the roles of psychological specialists in these institutions and raised awareness among visitors about the importance of mental health, preventive measures against mental illness, and the significance of seeking psychological help when needed. Additionally, several presentations and workshops on mental health were held on the same day, presented by a number of psychologists.
