Interior Architecture is a fast-moving discipline that aims to improve our experience of many different places, from the home to retail and commercial environments, exhibition spaces and places of leisure and hospitality. This program will provide to students with an in-depth education that will help them to develop the creativity, knowledge and skills necessary for working as an interior designer. The program combines aesthetics and technology such as computer aided design (CAD) and 3-D computer modeling to help you create amazing indoor spaces. The program has 135 credit hours which can be divided into six sub parts as university requirements, general education requirements, college requirements, department requirements, program requirements, and electives requirements.
For direct entry into the College of Engineering, the student should have General Education Diploma (12th standard) or certified equivalent with overall score of C and minimum of grade D in Pure Mathematics, English and (Physics or Chemistry).
The student should also successfully complete the General Foundation program with an overall score of 65% in the following areas:
English proficiency
Study skills
Math
Information Technology
To be exempted from the GFP (English Component), a minimum score of 5.00 in IELTS certificate or equivalent is required.
To be exempted from the GFP (IT Component), an ICDL Certificate in English or its equivalent is required.
Graduates are expected to succeed in a career as interior architects.
Graduates are expected to contribute to society through research or professional and ethical practice in Interior Architecture.
An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
Both private sector and public agencies seek for interior designers for a variety of professional positions. Many work for engineering and architecture consulting firms or construction companies as interior designers and interior project managers.
Graduates are equally prepared to pursue M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in allied fields of architecture and design.
